July 12 Art Coalition “Natural Fallacy” show opening
A group exhibition by HATCH Projects Residents Noelle Allen, Theodore Darst, Brent Fogt, Jordan Martins, Nicholas Sagan, and Matthew Schlagbaum
Curated by HATCH Curatorial Resident MK Meador
Opening Reception: July 12, 6 – 9pm
Exhibition Dates: July 12 – August 1, 2013
The works in Natural Fallacy delve into the tensions of power and dominance between humans and their natural surroundings. The title of this exhibition is derived from naturalistic fallacy, which is part of a more widely referenced family of logical gaffes such as the red herring, ad hominem and false cause.
One version of the naturalistic fallacy has to do with the erroneous attribution that simply because something is natural or close to nature, it is true. Objects or conditions that possess natural causes or effects are presumed to have more truth, and those which are human-made are seemingly artificial. Read More Here.

Big Data is one of the most important issues in today’s technology-centric world. Data is being created at an exponential rate, not just through website traffic but also Facebook likes, Twitter retweets, cellular location-based statistics, etc. Every day, 2.5 quintillion bytes of data are created, with 90% of the data in the world today created in the last two years.
Big Data is more than simply a matter of size; it is an opportunity to find insights in new and emerging types of data and content, to make your business more agile, and to answer questions that were previously considered beyond your reach.
Ogilvy, Dell and Angelbeat are hosting a free late afternoon Big Data workshop, plus cocktail reception and networking hour, at the beautiful Metropolitan Club (66th floor of the Willis Tower) on Monday July 15th. This program will help you capture, analyze and understand Big Data, enabling you to make fact-based decisions that boost customer loyalty, enhance customer service, increase revenue, grow market share and raise profits. It will be very useful for sales/marketing/social media/advertising professionals and business executives, plus IT staff working in business intelligence/analytics, data warehousing, CRM, databases and related applications.

We do recommend that you come a bit early to secure your space. Bring a blanket, some water and make yourself comfy with your friends.
